Reassurance shield as U.S. 1A begins. U.S. 1A is a weird route, in that it’s generally signed with these neutered Massachusetts-style 1A shields. U.S. 1A is probably distinct from RI 1A since it crosses into Mass., but Massachusetts treats it as Mass. 1A.

Several blocks later, we’ll approach RI 117. Turn right for RI 117 south. Turn left for U.S. 1A (here signed as RI 1A) north. Staying straight doesn’t take you onto anything, though it is perhaps a very old alignment of 1 or 1A.
