Welcome to Montana! US-212 begins here, and continues to Minneapolis. But first, we’ll start to head over the beautiful Beartooth Highway.

A few miles into Montana, we’ll enter Silver Gate.

As we head out of Silver Gate, we’re advised that snowmobiles aren’t allowed on US-212. This is the first formal indication that 212 exists.

Location: Main St and Montana St, Cooke City, Park Cty

A few miles later, we’ll enter Cooke City and we’re again advised not to take snowmobiles on US-212.

Location: Beartooth Hwy at the Wyoming Line, Park Cty

Just past Cooke City, the Beartooth Highway and US-212 will briefly dip into Wyoming, before continuing on to Red Lodge and Billings.
