Idaho State Highway 24, US-93 to SH-25

Reassurance shield as we head out of Shoshone. SH-24 is a long, desolate drive through some pretty boring territory. If you like sagebrush, this is your route.

On the plus sign, this route is well signed, because I bet you’d get lost out here pretty easily?

Reassurance shield after a realignment rejoins. I guess 24 used to run parallel to this about a mile south of here. I have absolutely no idea why they realigned it.

Reassurance shield after westbound traffic has a passing lane. I have no idea why that is necessary.

Holy buckets! We’ll go 11 miles with no reassurance shield, and then get one shortly after we enter Minidoka County. Mountains start to come into view, which is nice.

They sign this thing so well for no reason, and then you get to a place where you have to do something and there’s no sign. Keep right to continue on 24, which goes from heading due east to heading southwest. Stay straight if you want to follow Minidoka Rd into the town of Minidoka.

At least there’s a reassurance shield after the turn. This is an unusual knockoff of the ugly new Idaho shield – it lacks the border like the new shield but retains the state name unlike the new shield.

At the stop sign, turn left.

Location: Meridian Rd and 8th St, Rupert

After a block on Meridian Rd, we’ll turn left again ont0 8th St. Follow 24 to Burley and Heyburn.

AMP: 5

Location: 8th St and Oneida St, Rupert

A block later, turn left for SH-25 east towards I-84 and right for SH-25 west towards I-84. SH-24 concurs with 25 west through Rupert, but that’s not signed here for some reason.
