Montana State Line:

(Cooke City, MT). We enter Wyoming- the Forest Service maintains this stretch of road, so signage is sparse. Indication for WYO 296 after we cross in, first reassurance shield finally pops up after that. It’s on a 2di blank, but has no inventory number and is likely not a WYDOT manufacture. It’s also really old.

(Alzada, MT)  Final WYO 112 shield just outside of Hulett. END STATE MAINTENANCE at the state line, although it’s only the end of Wyoming’s maintenance. Welcome to Montana! Montana 326 goes unsigned. US-212′s eastbound destination is 2 states away, a rarity in the west. Junction US-212 comes up really quickly.

(Pine Bluffs, WY) Final reassurance shield in Wyoming, then a TO Interstate Wyoming 80 and US-30 sign, both of which are erroneous as we ARE on US-30, and we’re not heading to I-80 in Wyoming. Welcome to Nebraska! Then we get signage informing us to follow I-80 West to get to US-30 West, or stay on 30 east, an extant route throughout Nebraska

Idaho State Line

(Border Junction, WY)  Final US-30 shield in Idaho. The WYO 89 junction is about 200 feet into Wyoming, so advance signage is in Idaho. Welcome to Wyoming! Junction WYO 89.

(Geneva, ID) Final US-89 shield in Wyoming, 10 miles to junction WYO 89 (via Idaho 61) and Cokeville and Evanston are WYO 89 destinations, just before the state line we are informed that it’s three miles to junction WYO 89, Welcome to Idaho!, first Idaho US-89 reassurer, junction Idaho 61 coming up (a quick route to WYO 89), turn left to follow Idaho 61, where that VIA sign is has usually sat a WYO 89 shield, but that may have been pulled down, after the turn we are told Idaho 61 heads TO WYO 89, Idaho 61 ends at the Wyoming line, Welcome to Wyoming!, first WYO 89 shield

(Thayne, WY) Only WYO 239 shield. WYO 239 ends at the state line road, but follow that road south to connect to Idaho 34, turn left on Idaho 34 for Wayan and Soda Springs, turn left on Idaho 34, first Idaho 34 reassurance shield, Welcome to Idaho!

Southern Yellowstone National Park Boundary

(Moran Junction, WY) We’ll approach Moran Junction. Just north of Moran is the pay station where the US routes end. We do get one final US  highway sign with no advance notice. The sign for Moran Junction.
