Location: Grand Ave and Euclid St, Monte Vista

Reassurance shield a few blocks after that as the road bends southeasterly again

Location: Grand Ave and Franklin St, Monte Vista

Reassurance shield two blocks later. You can’t say 160/285 is poorly signed in Monte Vista, that’s for sure.

Location: US-160 and CR 38, Rio Grande Cty

Junction CR 38 coming up. I have been driving highways and photographing the signs since January 2007, and it took me until June 2012 to get a picture of my first road numbered 38. Ironically, I lived along Illinois Route 38 for  eight years, from 1989 to 1997.

Location: US-160 and CR 2E, Rio Grande Cty

A mile or so later, turn right for CR 2E

Location: US-160 and CR 3E, Rio Grande Cty

Turn right or left for CR 3E, which connects to CR 1S on both sides.

Location: US-160 and CR 6E, Rio Grande Cty

Turn right and left for CR 6E. Rio Grande County loves its county road signs. Just after this junction, we’ll cross into Alamosa County

Location: US-160 and CR 106S, Alamosa Cty

You know the drill.

Location: Main St and Clark St, Alamosa

Shortly thereafter, we’ll enter Alamosa, which is the largest city in this valley that we’ve been driving through since Southfork.

Location: Main St and Edgemont Blvd, Alamosa

As we cruise along the south side of Adams State University, we’ll approach US-285

Location: Main St and West Ave, Alamosa

Turn right up here for US-285 south and unmarked SH-17

Location: Main St and West Ave, Alamosa

Follow 160 east and SH-17 north to Fort Garland. Take US-285 and SH-17 south to Antonito

Location: Main St and West St, Alamosa

Right for 285/17 south. Straight for 160 “to” SH-17. The routes technically concur, but Colorado hates signing US-State route concurrencies. ¬†17 and 160 will concur just to the east side of town.
