JCT US-12 coming up in half a mile, but that’s not the weird thing here.

So, when I was coming up on this sign, I was like “NO WAY” and then I thought “Why am I saying NO WAY” and then I thought “IT’S A NORTH DAKOTA STATE HIGHWAY SHIELD IN WASHINGTON!” “there’s an error!”

Having never been to North Dakota, the faded northwest corner of the US-12 shield made it appear to be a ND-12 sign in the distance. Here’s a comparison for you, but the pictures don’t do it justice.

North Dakota shield brought to you by Mark O’Neil’s excellent gallery of road signs. Photo taken on Interstate 29 near Pembina, North Dakota near the Canadian border.
