We come up on a rare, beautiful, original vintage junction sign. This is almost certainly a near-1964 sign. I’m not entirely sure of the origins, but it does have a state-name 405 shield and the “TO” marking. The “TO” is legitimate. It may not be a 1964 sign, as I-405 wasn’t completely constructed over here in ’64, and was instead signed as State Route 405. However, this segment was completed by 1967, the next year I have a map for. Anyway, back in the day SR 167 continued up Rainier Ave all the way to I-90 in Seattle. Google Maps still shows this route alignment despite it not existing since 1992. Also take note of the SR 167 route shield, a smaller version of the President’s head with a notably shorter neck. Numbers are larger, and pushed out to the corners, a practice that would be abandoned by the 80’s (possibly earlier).
