Keep right for Highway 36. Turn left for US-16A east

Follow Highway 36 towards Highway 79. Stay on US-16A to get to Mt Rushmore. Both routes sort of work to get to Rapid City, so it’s surprising that neither is recommended over the other. Having not driven 36, I’m fairly sure it’s faster as 16A gets pretty slow and windy after this left turn.
